Lincoln
Arts Festival Update!Planning is well under way for the tenth annual Lincoln Arts
Festival on September 25-26th. Artist Registration is now open, and
will close on April 16th. The Lincoln Arts Council and SouthPointe
Pavilions join together in a great two day festival exhibiting the work of
artists from Lincoln and all over the country. Live music, games, giveaways and
of course, the high quality art of a juried show bring crowds from around our
region. With about 130 artists, we look for a mix of the very finest artwork
and more affordable works to keep the appeal of the show as broad as possible. The success and growth of the festival tell us we're on the right track. We're
currently in negotiations to insure temperate days and gentle breezes, but we
already know we'll have great music, food and art for sale. If you're an
artist, go to Zapplication.com for information on showing at the festival. If
you're an art lover, save some dollars for the best art market of the year.

Nolan Tredway has become one of the most recognizable
presences in the local arts scene. A 2004 graduate of the University of
Nebraska in studio art, he has put forth incredible efforts to promote the
visual and performing arts in Lincoln. Tredway's latest exhibit can
be seen at A to Z Printing in March.

This series takes Tredway's classic yet storybookish style to his homeland: the
Great Plains. Each painting takes place among the grasses of the plains and
explores alternate histories, current commentary and possible futures. Tredway
was inspired by several trips in preparation for a mural about the area, which
led him to research of historical events, homesteaders, and the stories of
settlers and Natives that shaped the area.
The exhibition is free and open to the public at A to Z Printing, 8230 Cody
Drive, in Lincoln and will run from March to April. Business hours are 9:00 -
5:00pm. An opening reception will be held Thursday, March 11 from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
