Thank YOU for making the 9th annual Lincoln Arts Festival a success!
It was with great joy and happiness that more than 100 volunteers and staff came together to produce the Lincoln Arts Festival at SouthPointe Pavilions this past weekend. Special thanks to Julie Lattimer and Shawn Czaplewski from SouthPointe for their generous assistance throughout the weekend. Artists from across the United States, many from Nebraska and Lincoln were present with their beautiful work for sale. Inspiration was at an all time high with young children becoming artists with dragon kites and dream catchers that they created in our new Kids Interactive Art area. No doubt about it, the Lincoln Arts Festival is just one example of how art brings together a community. When we are many in body and one in mind we can accomplish amazing things. That's the power of art! This year's lucky winner of the 2009 One Year Free Lease donated generously by Husker Auto Group is Karen Zegers of Lincoln. She and her family were delighted to support the arts and are looking forward to experiencing the "art" of driving. Thanks to Fil Catania at Husker Auto Group and his delightful and helpful associates. Kathy Brandon and a friend will be traveling to Chicago via Amtrak's California Zephyr and spend two lovely nights at the Downtown Holiday Inn. Thanks to Ric Ewing at Amtrak and Jim Hickey and his staff at the Downtown Holiday Inn. Special kudos go to Todd Shumacher of Russ' Market for his generous donation of water, food and supplies for the Lincoln Arts Festival! Because of the generosity of Todd and his amazing staff, the Lincoln Arts Council was able to share a hearty supply of fresh fruit with the Matt Talbot Kitchen. Thanks, Todd, for being a hero to the Lincoln Arts Council, and for feeding Lincoln's hungry! Next time you go shopping, remember that Russ' Market gives back!

Join Gallery Nine and Noyes Art Gallery for a
special First Friday Art Walk kicking off LGBTQA History Month. Along with the
incredible work of area artists featured each month, Gallery Nine and Noyes will
be showing works that celebrate the LGBTQ community.
Gallery
Nine has created a special exhibit, "Allies for Inclusion," to be shown in the
main lobby. Various artists will be displaying unique works that reflect their
own interpretation of inclusion and acceptance.
The
Noyes Art Gallery is featuring special guest artist Kelly Rush. She uses everyday objects in sculpture and brings to light unique beauty that otherwise may
go unnoticed. You can find her exhibit in the Gold Room at the Gallery.
In
addition to viewing fine art, take time to taste the cuisine of Divine Dish.
Both Galleries will be serving the unique vegetarian items Timothy (owner and
chef of D.D.) is known for.
Haydon Art Center is proud to present their newest show "Palimpsest" October 1-24. The First Friday artist reception will be held October 2nd from 6 to 8 pm, with and introduction of the artists present at 7 pm. Three artists present work that corresponds to
this elastic word, believed to have been coined by Cicero. Palimpsest suggests
things either lost or obscured but that have remained insistent evidence of a
past still haunting or forming the present. Different approaches to layering
are used by Betsy Chaffin, Kathleen Loe and Susan Working in this exhibition
that combines painting, sculpture, and digital imaging. New work will be shown representing a range
of responses to this resonant word and concept.
