Kiechel Fine Art is pleased to announce "La Memoria Del Tiempo", new work by Francisco Souto, on view at Kiechel Fine Art from May 8 through June 26. The opening reception will be held on Friday, May 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. An artist talk is scheduled for the opening reception at 7 p.m..
"La Memoria Del Tiempo" or "The Memory of Time" represents a broad spectrum of Souto's work, chronicling his journey as a printmaker and master of the mezzotint process. Exploring themes of history and the individual, Souto creates a dynamic discourse between his methods, materials, and personal experience. His most recent work combines the 17th century mezzotint with digital photography, a thoroughly modern interpretation of the age-old printmaking technique.
Francisco Souto was born in Venezuela, and received his BFA from the Herron School of Art in 2000, and his MFA from the Ohio State University in 2002. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Souto has participated in a wide range of national and international exhibitions throughout the United States, Europe, Venezuela, Russia, Egypt and Japan. The master printmaker has shared his expertise through workshops and as a visiting artist in the US and abroad, garnering several awards and grants. His work is in several public and private collections around the world.
