Stories of Home Air Dates
Lincoln Arts Council's compelling video telling the story behind "Stories of Home" is available during the month of December on NET2 (Cable Channel 17 in Lincoln). The documentary produced by Doug Boyd for the LAC is airing Dec. 6 at 7pm; Dec. 7 at 1pm; Dec. 20 at 7pm; and Dec. 21 at 1pm. NET is highlighting the "Stories of Home" project, Lincoln Arts Council's exciting public arts project that celebrated families and diversity within our community, as part of their Public Media project.

The 35th Annual Omaha Summer Arts Festival invites artists to be a part of one of the most vibrant art festivals in the Midwest from June 26 through 28, 2009. Located in downtown Omaha

Cheryl Norris's play "Cooking With Lard" will be brought to the stage
this month by the Angels Theatre Company.

at the Mill. A wild assortment of women
congregate in a small Texas town to speculate on the death and possible murder
of a local man by his wife, El Rita. A five-person cast portrays the 15
characters who roll in and out of Addie's diner amid bingo, drill team
rehearsal, girl scout cookies, and a meat protest. Come to Addie's diner to get
the whole zany truth as these women grapple with everything that comes through
the screen door! Join cast Pippa
White, Mary Douglass, Becky Key, Rachel Miller, Shandi Walnofer-Anderson &
Zuri, as well as guest director Lindsay Porter, set and light designer Dan

Lincoln Boy's Choir "Holiday Concert"  The Lincoln Boys Choirs will be performing "A Holiday Concert" on December 19, 2008 at St. Paul's Church at 13th & 'M' Street. The start time is 7:00pm for the concert and the Lincoln Boys Concert, Chorale and Cantare Choirs will all be performing. The three choirs will start the performance with a combined singing procession and then each choir will perform individually. Concert and Chorale Choirs sing in unchanged voices and Cantare sings with changed voices. The choirs perform classical, secular, sacred, spiritual, folk and musical theatre repertoire with works in diverse languages. Lux Center for the Arts - "Gifts from the Heart"
Lux Center for the Arts will exhibit works by more than fifty locally, regionally, and nationally known artists for " Gifts from the Heart", November 7 - December 23. A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 5. Ceramic tiles by Su Harvey, functional pottery by Jenni Brant, prints by Victoria Goro-Rapoport, shibori scarves by Carter Smith, glass ornaments by Tom Kreager, jewelry by Lulu Smith, and encaustics by Margaret Berry are some of the pieces of art available for purchase from this exhibition. Lux Center for the Arts is free and open to the public. Extended Holiday Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays, noon to 4 p.m. First Friday of each month, 11a.m. to 7 p.m. Free parking is available on the west side of the building located in historic University Place at 2601 N. 48th Street. Unitarian Art Gallery - "Robot Luv-Luv Automotive"
During the month of December the work of artist Carrie Masters will be at the Unitarian Church, 6300 A Street. The show, "Robot Luv-Luv Automotive" showcases Masters' latest work, digitally manipulated mixed media based on photography. Her work has grown out of her years as a photographer and offers a colorful variety of unique items sure to delight and amuse. "Robot Luv"will be available beginning on Dec. 8 and throughout the month with a opening event scheduled for Dec. 13 from 6-11 pm. Be sure to check out some of the stores that carry her works of art or her online store for some fabulous items. Buying art from local artists is a great gift idea for the holidays! The First Friday Gallery Walk this month at participating galleries is December 5th from 5-10 pm. |
