Creativity FOUND! Lincoln Arts Festival

2008 Lincoln Arts Festival
An absolutely gorgeous weekend and fabulous art were a perfect combination Sept. 27 and 28 at the Lincoln Arts Council's eighth annual Lincoln Arts Festival held at SouthPointe Pavilions.  With an estimated 13,500 in attendance, the event was a huge success.  Our special thanks to corporate sponsor TierOne Bank for their generous support of the event.
The festival was kicked off with a special patron breakfast on Saturday morning.  Our thanks to the 56 patrons who supported festival artists by pre-committing to purchasing art.  This was the largest ever group of patrons and the artists certainly made note of their enthusiasm and support.  Awards were given to artists by a team of professional judges.  Our thanks to Sandhills Publishing for sponsoring those awards.  Award winners include: Best of Show, Ken Nelson for his wooden pieces; Best Festival Newcomer, Barry Monohon for his sculpture; and LAC President's Choice Award, Jim Rigg for his paintings.  More...

Darden SmithDarden Smith Concert

Thanks to a grant from the Lincoln Arts Council, Darden will also lead Clinton Elementary School students through his Be An Artist Program earlier in the day.
Darden began the Be An Artist Program in 2003 as a way to talk to children about creativity. The idea behind the program is simple: We don't have to become artists because we are all born artists. Every action of our day has the potential to be art, and each person, with his or her own natural creative abilities, possesses the tools to be an artist.  More...
