January 26, Camp Inawendiwin Sat. March 15, Cherry Hill Service CenterEnergized when engaging people's minds? Excited when you turn on the light bulb over someone's head? Jazzed about the Girl Scout message and can't wait to share it with a group? Then consider becoming a Council Trainer. Deliver prepared training outlines to Girl Scout volunteers. This training gives you the tools, resources and strategies to recruit and place Girl Scout Volunteers and girls. Open to new Service Unit Organizers/Recruiters, SU Managers, and Leaders. Troop Consultant Thurs. June 12 Newfield Service Center 7:00-9:30 PM
Learn how to assist and support the leadership of your Service Unit by translating your experience into practical tools. Service Unit RegistrarThis training covers council registration procedures. Service Unit TreasurerLearn the responsibilities of the Service Unit Treasurer, which include maintaining and overseeing the Service Unit and troop bank accounts, community income and expenses. Learn how to complete the yearly Service Unit and Troop Financial Summaries and submit them to Council. Don't forget to sign up for our year-round trainings offered for new and existing leaders! Check the web calendar for dates, times and locations! Orientation to Girl Scouting 2.5 hours Orientation for all new Leaders. This training consists of: an overview of the history, structure, policies and procedures of the Girl Scout organization. Prerequisite for all position trainings e.g. New Leader Training, Transition, & Advisor Training. Prerequisite: Volunteer Application Enrollment Process.
New Leader Training for Daisy, Brownie, or Junior 2.5 hours Everything you need to know to manage a troop including safety standards, GSCSNJ policies, age level awards, developmental characteristics, and activities. This training is required for all new Leaders, Co-leaders, and Assistant Leaders. Prerequisite: Orientation to Girl Scouting.
Transition Training 2 hours Program level training designed for the experienced Leader who is changing age levels with emphasis on age level resources, Troop government, awards, and developmental characteristics of the specific age level. Prerequisite: New Leader Training.
Advisor Training 3 hours Training for Leaders of Junior, Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts making the transition from Leader to Advisor. Particular emphasis will be on the development of girl driven programming. Prerequisite: Orientation to Girl Scouts.
Overnight Adventures 3 hours This course qualifies adult volunteers to take girls on overnight trips at museums/activity centers, lock-ins, hotels, and cabin camping with no outdoor cooking. Prerequisite for Outdoor Skills I.
Outdoor Skills I 4 hours This outdoor course consists of hands on activities using skills needed to participate in an overnight camping experience. Includes fire building and elementary cooking methods. Prerequisite: Overnight Adventures.
Outdoor Skills II Overnight This overnight experience certifies adult volunteers to take girls on camp-outs where the girls will be cooking outdoors. Participants will receive a packet in advance of the training listing items needed to complete the training successfully. This session teaches participants how to utilize tent units and includes a special focus on program activities. This course is given rain or shine. You will be notified by the Lead Trainer if there is a cancellation due to weather conditions. Prerequisite: Outdoor Skills I.
