RUT-BUSTERS: Tapping into your own personal style
Feature article: Spring accessories 101
Greetings!

Spring has definitely sprung! As I'm writing this at my dining room table, the buds on thillustration of shoppinge camellia bush outside my window are finally revealing a little bit of pink inside. It's a color I'm crazy about this season, and I can't wait to float a few in a bowl in the house very soon.

One of my favorite things about this time of year are the shopping trips with clients. This year, most of my regular clients are used to my constant refrain of "Less but better," and we've been having a great time steering away from black and injecting more color, texture and pattern into their wardrobes. They come away looking younger, prettier, better rested, and HAPPIER as a result! And guess what? They experience less stress when they get dressed, too.(Want to get that for yourself? Check out my special offer on color analysis down at the bottom of this e-mail!)

Thinking about personal style was part of the impetus behind the workshop series I have planned for the spring, "RUT-BUSTERS: Tapping into Your Personal Style." These workshops are going to take the guesswork out of looking great --  I'm going to explain step by step how to get the look you want, and it's going to be easy and straightforward, so you get the results you want even if you don't have a lot of time or a big budget. (Scroll down for details.)

Warmly,

New workshop series!
RUT-BUSTERS: Tapping Into Your Own Personal Style .... So You Look Happier, Prettier, and Younger -- and Feel BETTER -- Every Single Day!

Are you ready to get out of your rut? Do you wish you could jump-start some big changes in your life but aren't sure how to do it?

This five-part series is for you! We'll talk about all the style issues you find most troubling, and I'll help you solve them, step by step.

We'll talk about:

  • Specific strategies for getting out of YOUR fashion rut -- and the huge savings in time, stress (and money) you'll experience as a result
  • The colors that make you look younger, prettier, happier and more rested
  • Tactics for putting your clothes together in new ways, so you feel stylish using what's already right in your closet
  • Breaking down shopping so it's fun, not frustrating
  • Using fit and style, so you can feel confident nearly all of the time, and
  • Feeling stylish because you've chosen accessories creatively and wisely.
What's best about this series is that I am going to take out all the guesswork of looking (and FEELING) great!

We'll meet on five Sundays this spring (April 11, 25; May 9, 23; June 6) and cover a different topic each time. Here's the line-up:

WORKSHOP #1: Getting out of your rut
WORKSHOP #2: Using color to look your best
WORKSHOP #3: Using images to get inspired
WORKSHOP #4: Demystifying "mixing and matching"
WORKSHOP #5: Pulling it all together with accessories

And guess what?! You can take as many or as few workshops as you like. (But those who sign up for all five workshops will get a special price for the series.) Interested? Let me know right away to reserve your place, because space is limited.

Interested in taking all five? As a special bonus, the first three people who sign up for all five workshops will get a COMPLIMENTARY color analysis with me!

In addition to all the great information you'll get during each session, you'll also get followup exercises to take home with you.

Cost: $55 per workshop or $250 for all five

Email me to sign up for one or all of the classes, or click here for more info.

(Or maybe you have a friend who's says she hates her clothes and never knows what to wear, and maybe even secretly longs for a makeover. Send her this email and help her get out of her rut!)

Help a friend get out of her rut!

Spring accessories 101

You can use new accessories to update the clothes already in your closet. What to look for:

Shoes
There's plenty to choose from if you want a  daring look for your feet this year. You'll find architectural heel details and shoes that look like they could be in an art gallery. Just be sure your feet don't draw attention from your face! Gladiator sandals compete with tall wedges and

platform pumps for attention. Booties now have weather-appropriate cutouts. A nude shoe or heel complements all the patterns we're seeing. Lighter-color leather or linen boots are a great transition from winter to spring. Chunky clogs are making their way to the stage this season. Do your ankles feel bare? Wrap them in bondage-like details in sandals or heels for another trend choice.

Bags
This season's bags are as varied as its flowers. We're seeing canvas and leather totes in fresh spring colors like sunflower yellow, wisteria, apple green, coral, and camel. For a natural look, choose clean materials like linen, raffia, and rope. Put print attention in your handbags with a tote or clutch in a bold floral, tie-dye, or tribal print. Venture into the safari trend and choose a ha

ndbag in a luxe skin like python, crocodile or alligator. And don't forget the more practical, hands-free cross-body bags in small to medium sizes. You'll see details like fringe, braided tassels, ruffles, patchwork, and whipstitching. The bigger slouchy bags of the season are in buttery soft leathers in nude and barely there pastel shades.

Jewelry
Chunky and sparkly are big this season: large Lucite pieces, enamel, baubles, and chunky metals. The look can be big and bold with modern angles and solid colors or glamorous-romantic with chunky feminine rhinestone flowers or large dangling stones. Earrings resemble sparkly chandeliers with soft gem colors of light pink, clear, and misty aqua. Necklaces are following suit with chunkier yet feminine styles in beautiful and romantic softer colors. One thing to remember with all the neckline ruffles and lace we're seeing, is that you may want to let your neckline get the most attention and substitute for a necklace. In that case adorn your wrist and ears instead. And remember, if you're wearing armful of bangles, make sure there's a theme, like "big modern angles" or "soft romantic jewels."

Belts
Belts accentuate the waist but are thinner than last season. The thin belt is more appropriate to the softer romantic looks and less obtrusive with the louder prints we are seeing this season. Pair your thin belts with softer romantic clothing to highlight your waist so it doesn't get lost in the layers of flowing fabrics.

Scarves
Crinkled lightweight fabrics make scarves an easy way to add color, volume and interestnear your face while keeping you cool in the rising temperatures, so swap your woolly scarves for scarves in linen, cotton and silk blends. Whether you enjoy bright colors, tribal prints, or sassy stripes, find scarves to team up with your dresses or separates. And if you're layering neutral colors together, a scarf adds a wonderful texture to your outfit.

Find out what colors you should wear -- and which ones you'll probably want to avoid, at least most of the time -- by scheduling a color analysis session with me. We'll spend about an hour (it might be more or less than that) carefully analyzing your skin tones and undertones to determine which are best for you. You'll look healthier and more beautiful (and younger!) and you'll save LOTS of time and money when you shop.
