In the News...Manufacturing Award, Restaurant Expansion in Monaca, and Barn Owl Boxes!

Congratulations to our long-time customer Alle-Kiski Industries, winner of this year's Pittsburgh Business Times "Manufacturer of the Year" award for companies with less than 50 employees. Read more about the company, the award, and the story here.

Barn owls have also been in the news lately.  They help keep rodents from destroying farm crops and soil, and are in need of a new home. This is one of the many reasons that Mark Browning, owner of Barn Owl Box Inc. and a trainer at the Pittsburgh Zoo, created a Barn Owl Box designed to shelter a family of birds.  Read the article here, and visit the company's website for more info. 

Oh, What a Night!  Celebrating Our Region's Entrepreneurs

And what a night it was...  On the evening of Tuesday, October 25, more than 250 people joined Bridgeway Capital at Heinz Field to celebrate our stars: the entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders who promote positive change in western Pennsylvania.  (Watch a short recap of the evening here!) We enjoyed a "red carpet" evening, highlighted 45 of our borrowers, and presented our Impact Award to two very deserving recipients.  Back by popular demand were the video stories, highlighting three exceptional entrepreneurs/leaders during our presentation.  We owe a special thank you to our sponsors, borrowers, and guests for a wonderful evening of celebration!

• Create Jobs for USA -- The past few months have been exciting for CDFIs like Bridgeway Capital.  Starbucks has teamed up with the Opportunity Finance Network® (OFN) to establish the national community jobs program, Create Jobs for USA, which provides capital grants to select CDFIs. People can support the initiative by donating $5 or more at company-operated Starbucks stores or online.
