Tribal Radio 91.3 signal upgrade completed
KSUT's original signal 91.3 FM, based on Rattlesnake Peak in Ignacio, has been successfully relocated and replaced with a more powerful transmitter. Now based at the National Forest Spring Creek site, the new transmitter provides a boost from 250 to 2000 watts, an d offers broader coverage with a significantly higher, circularly polarized antenna. The 91.3 signal is used to broadcast Tribal Radio, a second local KSUT service featuring Native American programming.
The signal improvement project was funded by a grant from the Department of Commerce's Public Telecommunications Facilities Program, with matching funds from the Southern Ute Indian Tribe.
The improved 91.3 provides stronger coverage of Tribal Radio to a larger geographic area, now with expanded service to southern La Plata and western Archuleta Counties. Work on a related project for expansion into San Juan County New Mexico continues. Tune-in to 91.3 FM and let us know how it's working for you.
