The highlight of the article is bulleted below:
- S.B. 874, 82nd Legislature, Regular Session, 2011, requires the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to establish and implement separate provider types for prosthetist and orthotist providers for purposes of enrollment and reimbursement in Texas Medicaid.
In accordance with this requirement, currently-enrolled orthotist and prosthetist providers that are currently-enrolled as durable medical equipment (DME) providers will be required to re-enroll in Texas Medicaid beginning December 19, 2011
MORE INFORMATION******************************************************************* Good morning Andrea, I will be sending this out to our members today but I wanted to verify whether when current providers are re-enrolling, are they still able to bill and receive payment? Thank you, Elizabeth Mansfield From Andrea: Currently enrolled orthotist and prosthetist providers that are enrolled as durable medical equipment providers have between 12/19/11 and 4/30/12 to reenroll with TMHP. At this point, TMHP has not received notification to term any providers during this time. This means they will still have the ability to bill and receive payment under their current DME number. It is critical that they begin the process as soon as the forms are available so that they do not impact their revenue cycle, as the application must be processed and a new number issued by 4/30/12. If the provider waits until the last minute, there is always a chance that the deeming form contains errors that must be fixed by the provider and they will miss the 4/30/12 deadline. Should this direction change, TMHP will provide updates.
