Ride for Cancer
The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Alberta Cancer Foundation is a cycling journey along the majestic Canadian Rockies that I'm embarking on to fight cancer. With my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!

I lost my Mum to cancer last summer and that's why I'm riding. It made me realize how precious life is and how helpless we are when faced with such a devastating disease. This is my way of contributing to change that.

If you can, please contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Every little bit helps. Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care at the Alberta Cancer Foundation, a leader in cancer research and treatment.

2009 RE/MAX RECREATIONAL PROPERTY REPORT
Gen X to flex new purchasing muscle in recreational property markets across Canada, says RE/MAX

Demographic shift underway in 74 per cent of markets surveyed

Generation X purchasers are poised to replace aging baby boomers as the major force in recreational property markets across the country, according to a report released today by RE/MAX.

The demographic shift was noted in the 2009 RE/MAX Recreational Property Report highlighting sales, pricing, trends and developments in 50 Canadian markets. The report found demand from Gen X (those born between 1965 and 1980) has nearly doubled over one year ago. Seventy-four per cent of markets surveyed this year reported a marked trend toward thirtysomething buyers snapping up affordably-priced product, ranging from waterfront cottages to resort condominiums, compared to just 40 per cent in 2008.

STAGING YOUR HOME ON A SHOESTRING
It doesn't take a lot of time to transform a well lived in home into a 'WOW" showpiece, but it does take talent and some elbow grease.   Experienced and competent stagers do it quickly by rearranging furniture to the best advantage of the space and styling display areas with pizzazz and flair.

According to the National Association of Realtors (American), 80% of homebuyers now view a home for the first time on the Internet, making the way the exterior and each and every room looks, even more important.

I can never stress enough how important the right wall colors are for a quick and profitable sale.

ALWAYS the quickest, most cost-effective and powerful transformation for a room is a great color.

Take a framed mirror, old or new and spray lacquer the frame in a fabulous color for instant punch.

For an empty wall, an inexpensive choice could be an over-size leaning mirror with a large plant in front of it.

Paint over your old brown hutch, dresser or dining room set in cheeky mod bright hues (daffodil, hot pink, coral) or in an understated charcoal elegance like an Armani suit.

Vinyl wall art decals.  Most can be applied and removed without damaging the paint so you can  experiment until you get it how you want it.  Try flowers sprouting out from behind the toilet, a chandelier hanging down from the ceiling, a tree growing behind your sofa...or Word to the Wall - letters, quotes and phrases for a fun, inexpensive way to add your personal touch to any space.

Add style with tile.  It's easy to replace that dated kitchen backsplash or fireplace surround with show-stopping gorgeous new tile - glass, glossy subway, metallic mosaics.

Throw down a new au courant area rug for color and texture underfoot and to "hold" a seating grouping together.

Collections.  Any object can be made into a "collection" if you have multiples of it.  Turn your collections into a work of art in a shadow box frame. If you don't want/cannot frame them, display them together.

Note:  A cleverly displayed collection may have the buyer remember your home, long after he or she has seen many properties that day.

What a difference a couple of hours can make.
