     Synod Meeting - January 12, 2012

    First Presbyterian Church, Urbana, IL 

 

 

 

The first meeting of the Synod for 2012 is scheduled for Friday, January 27th at the First Presbyterian Church, 602 West Green Street, Urbana, IL 61801, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time with registration and refreshments beginning at 9:00 a.m. A box lunch will be provided.

 

Papers necessary for the meeting will be posted on Friday, January 20th, on our website www.lincolntrails.org - an email reminder will be sent to you when the posting is complete. Documents available after the posting date will be duplicated and can be found in the registration packet upon sign-in.

 

Please reply via email your intentions on attending this stated meeting of the Synod. If an overnight room is required for Thursday, January 26th, please indicate in your email and arrangements will be made for you and a confirmation and map will be sent via email.

Louisville - One week before a group of dissident churches meets to create a new denomination, eight Presbyterians, including Ruling Elder Cynthia Bolbach and Teaching Elder Landon Whitsitt, the moderator and vice-moderator of the 219th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), have issued a letter and video expressing their hope in the future of the denomination.

Presbytery of Chicago Offers Worship Alive! Scholarships
 

The Worship, Music, and the Arts (WMA) Work Group of the Presbytery of Chicago is offering scholarships to Worship Alive! in honor of the memory of Charles E. Dickerman, former WMA moderator and newsletter editor. The Worship Alive! workshops are for those individuals interested in planning and leading worship. Learn more about Worship Alive! workshop topics, dates, and locations.

 

Scholarship applicants must be a non-clergy member of a church within the Presbytery of Chicago. Scholarships are limited to two people from each congregation.

Launched by the General Assembly Mission Council (GAMC)in Fall 2009, For Such a Time as This: A Small Church Residency - Growing Leaders, Growing Churches is a timely and innovative program that pairs small, underserved congregations with recent seminary graduates in a two-year pastoral residency relationship. The program was designed to renew the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) by equipping new pastors to grow small churches Deep and Wide in evangelism, discipleship, servanthood and diversity.
