A Day with Gil Rendle: Where is the Hope for Mainline Churches? 


Gil Rendle will speak on Oct. 28 in Urbana
Well-known author and consultant Gil Rendle will present a day-long event on Friday, Oct. 28, in Urbana, Ill.

He will be discussing the leadership and organizational challenges in mainline churches today, as they journey through the wilderness of change.

Registration cost is $25, which includes the cost of lunch. Copies of Rendle's book, Journey in the Wilderness, will be available for sale. This event is sponsored by the synod in partnership with the presbyteries of Blackhawk, Chicago, Great Rivers and Wabash Valley.

What Presbyterians BelieveSpecial Edition of Presbyterians Today Features Articles by Christina Berry, Synod Moderator

What Presbyterians Believe is a 64-page resource and guidebook that lifts up many topics of Presbyterian belief, worship, and practice. Four of the articles are by the Rev. Christina Berry, moderator of the Synod of Lincoln Trails. Among the serious theological topics, Berry contributed "Explain it to Your Kids."

Lombard Mennonite Peace CenterLombard Center Offers Mediation Training

The Lombard Mennonite Peace Center, Lombard, Ill., will offer its Mediation Skills Training Institute for Church Leaders in Wheaton, Ill. on August 1-5, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton. The workshop is designed to equip all types of  individuals including pastors, lay/church leaders, sisters, judicatory leaders, with the skills necessary to deal effectively with interpersonal congregational, and all other forms of group conflict.
