Renewed Energy and Connection to the Larger Picture Refresh Participants' Calling at APA Conference by Judith A. Lucas, Executive Assistant, Synod of Lincoln Trails
I spent May 19 through 21 in Louisville, attending the Heartland Regional Conference of the Administrative Personnel Association (APA).
This was my first official meeting as president-elect and I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew it was going to be a good conference when the opening worship started with Marissa Galvan-Valle of General Assembly. The sermon and music were extraordinary and set the tone for the whole weekend. Sharon K. Youngs and Betty Meadows were no less extraordinary not to mention my classes and leaders.
I read on the website of pcusa-apa.org that a pastor said the APA was the best kept secret of the Presbyterian Church - why keep it a secret? The networking of church secretaries, administrative staff of presbyteries and synods actually bring to life what we do every day. The women are wonderful, the stories are fabulous, and spirit is moving!
Thank you to the synod and its personnel committee for supporting continuing education and keeping money available to attend these events.
