Conference for Interim Ministers

The Association of Trained Intentional Interim Ministers has announced its 19th annual conference, to be held at Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center, Utica, Ill. on Sept. 29-30. The conference will feature the Rev. Dr. Kris Tenny Brittian, author of Top 10 Ways to Defuse Your Congregational Time Bomb. Kris is currently the Northeast Area Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Mid-America.

This annual event has become one of the premier continuing education events for clergy of a number of denominations and has featured such keynote speakers as: Mark Lau Branson, Israel Galindo, Gil Rendle, Terry Foland, Alice Mann, Jill Hudson and Tex Sample. A bookstore is provided. In addition to the keynote presentations, the event provides for several hours to enjoy the beauty of Starved Rock, the Illinois River and two other nearby state parks.

Administrative Personnel Association Meets April 22-24

The Greater Midwest Region of the Administrative Personnel Association will be holding its annual conference on April 22-24 in Washington, Mo. Registration deadline is April 9.

The APA is a professional association for administrative and support staff of churches, governing bodies, agencies and institutions of the PC(USA). The Greater Midwest Region includes the states of Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
Stewardship Kaleidoscope
Funding Mission Today and Tomorrow

Stewardship Kaleidoscope, hosted by PC(USA) synods, presbyteries and other agencies, met March 15-17 in Indianapolis. The Synod of Lincoln Trails is one of the sponsors of this annual event.

The opening plenary was presented by the Rev. Brian Blount, president of Union Theological Seminary. Other speakers included Kathryn Miree, planned giving consultant and Maggie Lauterer, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Burnsville, N.C. Twenty-eight workshops, worship and fellowship rounded out the three-day gathering.

Migration, Theology and the Human Journey

Immigration is a complex issue that is often controversial with social, economic, political and even religious implications.

On April 17-18, First Presbyterian Church of Columbus, Indiana, will present Fr. Daniel Groody, Assistant Professor of Theology, Notre Dame University, to lead an exploration of immigration issues. Groody is director of the Notre Dame Center for Latino Spirituality and Culture.

Events include a lecture in English, one in Spanish, an authentic Mexican dinner and a film. All events are free of charge and open to the public. The event is co-sponsored by several Columbus churches and organizations.

Church uses Skype to Bring Ministry Candidates and Search Committee Members Face to Face

For Westminster Presbyterian Church - a thriving congregation in suburban Philadelphia - personal relationships are at the heart of the church's mission and ministry, which is precisely why the church's associate pastor nominating committee was faced with a challenge.

Elected by the congregation in August 2009, the 11-member committee was charged with identifying a pastor who would share the preaching responsibilities for Westminster's two sets of concurrent services.
