Help for Haiti
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is responding to Tuesday's devastating earthquake through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and its
partners. Presbyterian World Mission is gathering information on the
safety and status of our mission personnel and ecumenical partners in
the area. For updates on the earthquake and the church's response, please visit PDA.
Initial reports indicate a large number of casualties and widespread
damage especially in the capital city of Port-au-Prince.
You,
too, can be part of God's answer to prayer for those affected by this
disaster. Information on the situation and prayers and worship
resources are available through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
Funds from One Great Hour of Sharing are already helping with the
initial response. You can give to the ongoing relief through PDA account number DR000064.

Synod Commissioners Meet January 23
The first regular meeting of the synod for 2010 will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, at Philo (Ill.) Presbyterian Church.

John Bell Visits McCormick Feb. 15
Noted hymnologist and worship leader John Bell will deliver two lectures on the interplay between text and song in the life and ministry of the church on February 15 at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. The lectures are free and open to the public. More information...

Dancer s Honor Black History
The "Granny Connection Group" of Columbus (Ind.) is sponsoring a performance of the Indianapolis-based Kenyetté Dance Company in honor of Black History Month on Feb. 20 in Columbus. A free-will offering will be taken and sent to African grandmothers in Lusaka, Zambia, who are caring for children

Jesus had no place to lay his head. Neither do tens of millions of migrants, refugees and displaced persons. Ecumenical Advocacy Days is an action weekend that will address this reality. Join hundreds of faith-based advocates in taking action on U.S. legislation that will welcome immigrants, protect refugees, and prevent displacement of millions. Participants will worship, study and dialog together. There will be special events for Presbyterians as well as times for people to meet and plan in state groups.
