Pathways PATHWAYS
One Day Makes a Difference in Youth Leader Development

Make plans now to explore PATHWAYS to excellence in youth ministry! The final location for 2009 is Oct. 17 at Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington, Ill. More information...

These unique, one-day events provide an opportunity for vocational discernment, and theological and practical training for volunteer youth leaders, pastors, and youth directors, while offering a parallel track for youth, grades 9-12, who are themselves leaders in their congregations.

The workshops are jointly sponsored by the PC(USA)'s offices of Christian Vocation and Ministries with Youth, and the Princeton Theological Seminary Institute for Youth Ministry.

Continuing Education for Commissioned Lay Pastors & Preachers

"The Place of Prayer in Reformed Worship" will be presented at Montreat Conference Center on Oct. 21-23. This conference brings together the leaders and resources needed by commissioned lay pastors and preachers to enhance and strengthen their ministry of preaching, to better understand congregations, for inspiration, and for networking. January 2010 Synod Meeting Date Changed

The first synod meeting of 2010 has been changed to Saturday, January 23. The location is the same: Philo (Ill.) Presbyterian Church.

The rest of the meetings planned for 2010 are:
  • Friday, April 23, 2010, First Presbyterian Church, Urbana, Ill.
  • Saturday, July 24, 2010, Philo (Ill.) Presbyterian Church
  • Friday, October 29, 2010, First Presbyterian Church, Urbana, Ill.
There is one meeting remaining for 2009: Friday, Oct. 30, at First Presbyterian, Urbana.

APA logo Keeping the Faith

The Heartland region of the Administrative Personnel Association will hold its regional conference Oct. 9-10 in Louisville, Ky. The association is for people engaged in administrative support in any PCUSA organization. Hours of instruction offered at the conference may be accumulated toward APA certification. The Heartland region includes Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan. Download a conference brochure.

Stewardship Kaleidoscope Save the Date!
2010 Stewardship Kaleidoscope will be held in Indianapolis

The 2010 Stewardship Kaleidoscope conference is a training event for pastors, committee chairs, and middle governing body staff members to learn from the best practices of others who work in the field of stewardship. The 2010 conference, planned in partnership with several presbyteries, synods, and the General Assembly Mission Council, including the Synod of Lincoln Trails, will be held March 15-17, 2010 in Indianapolis. PC(USA) Giving Opportunities Packets Coming Soon

Watch your mail for the new 2009-2010 Mission Giving Opportunities packets. These will be mailed soon to each congregation and middle governing body, and should arrive in early October. Each packet contains an interpretative brochure about how gifts to Shared Mission Support are used by the General Assembly Mission Council, and a 2009-2010 Presbyterian World Mission Giving Catalog that provides brief profiles of Presbyterian long-term mission personnel and information on how to support them. The packets also include a guide for using the web-based search engine for all mission funding projects, domestic and international.

The packets have been designed to help strengthen the church's shared witness and encourage greater participation at all levels in the mission of the church.
