This colorful, interactive and educational site is suitable for ages 8 to 12 and is designed to empower children on behalf of other children. The site features stories, games and a tool kit where children can learn about other ministries of the PC(USA).

Bible and World MapBlackhawk Presbytery Plans Celebration of Mission

Blackhawk Presbytery is planning a unique "Celebration of Mission" at its September 8 presbytery meeting.  In the spirit of "worshipful work," the presbytery is combining its offering of worship to God with its focus on mission and ministry, lifting up its work in its worship. This two-hour worship service will interweave scripture, liturgy, music, and storytelling, culminating in the celebration of the sacrament of the Lord's Supper.

WTPB-LP, 99.3 FM in Rockford, Ill., will broadcast the "Celebration of Mission" live from 10 a.m. to noon, CST, on Sept. 8 and streaming live on the internet at www.wtpblp.com.  WTPB-LP is a ministry of Third Presbyterian Church, Rockford, developed by volunteers from the congregation. Blackhawk Presbytery has supported this development through its presbytery-wide mission grant program.

Communication linkages permitting, mission co-worker, Rev. Brenda Harcourt and colleagues and friends from Blackhawk Presbytery's Kenya partners in Imenti Presbyteries will join the celebration in real time via Skype.

Mission and ministry stories interwoven throughout the service include Stronghold Camp & Retreat Center, the Campus Ministry Program of Westminster Presbyterian Church, DeKalb, Ill., the Synod of Lincoln Trails, Presbyterian Church (USA) World Mission, mission co-worker Rev. Brenda Harcourt, the annual presbytery-wide mission trip to the New Orleans area, and Rockford's Third Presbyterian Church low-power radio station.

The September 8, 2009 meeting of Blackhawk Presbytery will be held at Waltham Presbyterian Church, 809 N. 3450 Rd., Utica, IL.  Rev. Frank Fisher is interim pastor. More...

Mission is Our Middle Name
The General Assembly Mission Council is now officially the new name for the General Assembly Council of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The new name is a more accurate reflection of the work the council does as the mission agency of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), in partnerships with the church's congregations, presbyteries and synods. Presbyteries voted 160 to 11 in favor of the change, which became official June 28, 2009. More...
