Director of Youth Ministry
Westminster Presbyterian Church in Munster, Indiana, is seeking a Director of Youth Ministry. This is a full-time job which we hope to have filled before July 1, 2009. The successful candidate will possess good organizational and planning skills. Love for, and understanding of, middler and high school age youth is essential. Teaching skills are highly valued. The position requires leadership skills and the ability to recruit, train and utilize volunteers. Westminster is seeking to fill this position with a person who appreciates working as part of an enthusiastic and energetic staff. Amendment B is defeated
Presbyteries Keep "Fidelity and Chastity" Ordination Standard
Though
the formal results await certification by the Office of the General Assembly,
all unofficial tallies show that Amendment B - which would replace the current
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) constitutional requirement that church officers
live in "fidelity within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman or
chastity in singleness" with a new section G-6.0106b of The Book of Order - has
been defeated.
After voting on Saturday, April 25, the count is 69
presbyteries in favor with 88 opposed - one more than the majority of 87 out of
173 presbyteries required to decide the matter. More...

Swine Flu Update
Public health officials, including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization, have confirmed that since Friday, April 24, an outbreak of Swine Influenza A (H1N1) or "swine flu" appears to have originated in Mexico where more than 100 people have died. Since Friday the flu has begun to spread rapidly across the United States -- it is now confirmed in California, Texas, New York City, Kansas and Ohio.
On Sunday, April 26, 2009, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services declared a public health emergency. The WHO has declared the swine flu outbreak a "public health event of international concern.

Synod Offers Grants to Attend Atlanta Event June 11-13What's Big Tent? It's a gathering of 10 PC(USA) conferences in the same place, at the same time! Attendees of any of the conferences will enjoy shared meals, workshops, worship services and a grand concluding celebration, in addition to their own special conference activities.
