Synods, Presbyteries and GAC Find Common Ground
Participants in this week's General Assembly Council/Middle Governing Bodies consultation have produced an agreement titled, "An Invitation to Renew Our Commitment and Mission Together."

According to the Presbyterian News Service, the three-page document covers
  • PC(USA)'s "missional heritage";
  • a "confession" of shortcomings that have characterized the relationship between the GAC and middle governing bodies in recent years;
  • identification of the "cultural context" in which the church seeks to serve today; and
  • themes, values and challenges of the ministry and mission the two groups seek to do together.

Worship leaders for the consultation were Carol McDonald, Lincoln Trails co-executive, and Sue Krummel, Great Rivers executive presbyter. Krummel is president of the Association of Executive Presbyters.

Nineteen of the disasters occurred internationally, in places such as Cuba, Liberia and Haiti. PDA is also involved in 14 other long-term responses in Cuba, Mexico, the Gulf Coast, and other places.

PDA has created a "Minute for Mission" video about response to Hurricane Ike, which can be downloaded from the PDA web page. Check there for also for situation reports, bulletin inserts and other worship resources.
