				| Presbytery Moderators Will Meet
A Word From the Mission Coordination and Administration Committee

  by Jan Wilkerson, Committee Moderator
We are excited that our synod moderator, Nate Rush, is planning a workshop with presbytery moderators and presbytery moderators-elect.  This meeting will serve to create a new leadership development tool.  The date and time of the workshop will be announced soon; watch this newsletter or check the synod website for details.

The Rev. Robert Shaw, moderator of the Congregational Development Subcommittee, reports that the new church development probe for the Presbytery of Blackhawk will be funded entirely by the synod. The probe seeks to determine what kind of new church development would suit a particular area, or in this case, areas.

As we seek to be good stewards we are thankful that the four synod meetings in 2009 will be hosted in three different churches in the Champaign, Urbana and Danville areas. This offers us another opportunity to connect with local congregations.

These are only three areas of this committee's involvement. We continue to be committed to develop, nurture, and support leaders in partnership with our presbyteries and congregations.

 Jan Wilkerson,
 Committee Moderator

				| A Faithful Way To Enjoy Summer Vacation
2008 Intergenerational Peacemaking Conference to be held July 15-19 in California

"Sowing Mustard Seeds: Working for God's Justice - Confronting Poverty" is the theme of the 2008 Peacemaking Conference planned for July 15-19 at Chapman University in Southern California. For more information or to register, visit PC(USA)'s Peacemaking Program web page.

A unique feature of this conference is the number of programs involved in its creation. Co-directors Edie Gause and Andrew Short commented, "This conference shows the new collaborative spirit and practice emerging at the General Assembly level. It's inspiring to watch a conference come together that encompasses the Presbyterian Peacemaking and Hunger Programs, the Joining Hands against Hunger Program, the Child Advocacy Office, the Presbyterian Washington and United Nations Offices, the Office of Small Church and Community Ministries, and Mission Responsibility through Investment."
