NADRA is having a dinner reception on the evening of March, 23rd & launching a brand new deck-specific education series on the day of the 24th for serious and committed builders. We invite you to join us in Providence, Rhode Island. Not a member yet? That's OK! You can still attend and see what NADRA is all about! | MARCH 24th - NADRA EDUCATION |
Stand out from average contractors by starting down the road to earning your NADRA Master Deck Builder Certification* (MDB) by attending "Understanding the Existing Structure". This course is one of a four-part series designed to help contractors prepare for their NADRA MDB Certification exams. Following each course, NADRA members are provided a take-home, mail-in exam. Many of you already own the Deck Construction based on the 2009 IRC book or the 2009 International Code Book; you will need this for reference. If you have not purchased the Deck Construction based on the 2009 IRC book already, it will be available at the class for a discounted rate for NADRA members.
From 8:30 to 12:30, Glenn Mathewson will describe the various and unexpected ways a new deck can affect the structure it serves. Mechanical and electrical systems, egress windows and exterior wall coverings, for example, must all be understood and evaluated before construction begins. Understanding the Existing Structure will get you thinking outside of the box, and understanding how a deck is about much more than just the deck.
Break for lunch and continue with two special manufacturers presentation classes from TimberTech & Fiberon.
*MDB certifications require current NADRA membership and completion of a four-part exam (existing structure, structural provisions I and II, and non-structural provisions)
However, you do not need to be a member of NADRA to attend the course.

NADRA Education and Certification courses can give you the edge you need. NADRA Education and Certification courses, both code related and product specific, will be offered this March in Providence, Rhode Island, in conjunction with JLCLive, one of the most lively trade shows on the east coast.
On March 24th, the day will start with four hours packed full of code-related deck-technical instruction taught by NADRA's own Glenn Matthewson, who--literally--wrote the book on building decks to code. Glenn's course will be the first in a series of courses that will allow NADRA builder-members Master Deck Builder (MDB) titles. This title, intended for the builder and the company owner, respectively, will tell all that you are above the fold--that you are a true professional committed to your craft.
But that's not all. Because after lunch, NADRA, in partnership with manufacturers TimberTech and Fiberon, will offer installation courses that are product specific. These courses are not marketing opportunities for the manufacturers involved. But instead, each manufacturer will teach NADRA builders proper installation techniques for their products, and will follow up with testing. And you can take that to the kitchen table of your next potential client.
The opportunities presented in Providence through the efforts of your association are not to be missed, as the courses outlined above will be the building blocks on which all NADRA certifications are based. Don't be left the odd guy out when homeowners are measuring you up against the rest. In the coming months, your association will be rolling out more education and credentialling opportunties involving more manufacturers in more cities. And these courses are sure to sell out. So get on board today, and get a leg up on the competition.
