Stand out from average contractors by starting down the road to earning your NADRA Master Deck Professional Certification* (MDP) by attending "Understanding the Existing Structure".  This course is one of a four-part series designed to help contractors prepare for their NADRA MDP Certification exams.  Following each course, NADRA members are provided a take-home, mail-in exam. Many of you already own the Deck Construction based on the 2009 IRC book or the 2009 International Code Book; you will need this for reference.  If you have not purchased the Deck Construction based on the 2009 IRC book already, it will be available at the class for a discounted rate for NADRA members.

From 8:30 to 12:30, Glenn Mathewson will describe the various and unexpected ways a new deck can affect the structure it serves.  Mechanical and electrical systems, egress windows and exterior wall coverings, for example, must all be understood and evaluated before construction begins.  Understanding the Existing Structure will get you thinking outside of the box, and understanding how a deck is about much more than just the deck.
