Quakertown - July 27, 2010 |The North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA), now in its 6th year, has decided it's time to launch the First Annual NADRA National Deck Competition. The contest will award builders for their work in various traditional categories: Pressure Treated Deck, Western Red Cedar Deck, Redwood Deck, Alternative Deck less than 500 square feet, Alternative Deck more than 500 square feet, Exotic Wood Deck less than 5oo square feet, and Exotic Wood Deck more than 500 square feet. And for builders who spend time on some of those special projects, there are categories such as Best Illumination and Best Unique Feature. And of course, the Best Overall Deck Project takes it all!
NADRA's New Jersey Chapter has been very successful in orchestrating annual deck competitions at the state chapter level. With very little marketing effort, the first two events went off without a hitch, and were served to inspire the national competition. See what winner Gary Daley, NADRA member & owner of America's Deck Builder has to say about what NADRA's deck competitions & awards do for his business:
"Now, more than 16 months later (and after winning another award at the 2010 NJ NADRA Deck Awards), people are still calling and telling me they read the article about me and my deck awards, and asking when I might be available to meet with them to talk about their deck projects. These folks, for the most part, aren't calling anyone else. They're calling me because (in addition to my striking good looks) I have been credentialed by NADRA. And the newspaper article made it all the more credible. 'I know this is a good company,' one eventual happy deck owner told me at our contract-signing meeting, "because it's right here in the newspaper." He made this proclamation while jabbing his index finger down into the award-announcing-article sitting in front of him. NADRA members continue to raise the bar for the deck industry across North America with the development of educational programs for professional deck builders.
