NADRA News: Nominations

Notice of Nominations for election to the NADRA Board of Directors:

For NADRA to continue to meet the needs of its members, we must have strong leadership. We need dedicated people willing to contribute time away from their business and personal lives to ensure that the deck and railing industry continues to grow and prosper.

Your input is crucial to the future of NADRA. Please make a point of attending the Annual Meeting on March 5, 2008 at DeckExpo to vote for new board members. If you have interest in nominating a hard working, knowledgeable member of the deck industry, please download the Nomination Form and complete it according to the instructions.

Please only nominate individuals you feel would make a strong and consistent contribution to our association and the industry. NADRA asks a lot from its Board of Directors. Please see the sample Board Member Agreement which outlines the commitment expected from each and every director. Nominations will be reviewed to ensure that each nominee meets the requirements stated in the Bylaws.

Nomination forms may be faxed to 888.623.7248 or mailed to P.O. Box 829, Quakertown, PA 18951. Nominations must be faxed or postmarked by the deadline of Saturday, January 5, 2008.

NADRA is counting on its membership to put forth dedicated members who will lead and guide NADRA into the future. We look forward to receiving your nominations.

Code Corner

The Code Technical Committee (CTC) of the International Code Council (ICC) held a meeting on December 5 and 6 in Chicago. Among other issues, one of particular interest to the deck and railing industry was the issue of guard climbability.

NADRA is part of the study group for climbable guards. A research project entitled "Review of Fall Safety of Children Between the Ages 18 Months and 4 Years In Relation to Guards and Climbing in the Built Environment" has been completed by National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center. This project was commissioned and funded

by National Ornamental Metal Manufacturers Association (NOMMA) in an effort to provide information sought to clarify conflicting interpretations of guard-climbing studies and injury data. The final draft is undergoing a peer review process at this time.
