The Society for Neuroscience is pleased to announce the call for Nominations for the Jacob P.Waletzky Memorial Award to recognize a scientist who has conducted research or plans to conduct research in the area of substance abuse and the nervous system.The award is presented each year at the Society's annual meeting to a scientist who has received an advanced degree of either a PhD or MD within the part 15 years.The award is $25,000.

A$25,000 Prize shall be awarded to a foreign-born scientist who demonstrates outstanding early achievement.
Applicants must be born abroad, be citizens or permanent residents of the United States, and No more than 38 years old as of January 1, 2009.

The awards are open to postdoctoral researchers at the beginning of their research careers.

To celebrate the forthcoming anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth, this year we would also like to invite researchers to apply for our special Darwin RXP awards. If you are a researcher in areas related to evolutionary theory and Darwin's legacy you can apply for a special RXP award.

The Rammal Award, created in memory of the great Lebanese physicist Rammal Rammal, is awarded each year to an outstanding personality of strong scientific stature.

Scientists of all disciplines may suggest names of nominees.Active scientists from any disciplinary background, including exact sciences, social sciences and humanities, are eligible.

Schellenberg Prize For Research 2008
The IRP Foundation invites applications and nominations for the Schellenberg Prize For Research 2008.

The Prize will be awarded on the basis of scientific merit to recognize recent achievements in the cellular and molecular aspects of spinal cord development, plasticity and regeneration following lesions.
It consists of 100,000 Swiss francs and is intended to support a young but established group leader active in experimental research related to spinal cord injury and repair.

Applications and nominations are due by May 30, 2008.
