RNID is the largest charity in the UK representing deaf and hard of hearing people.We fund scientific research that will contribute to the development of treatments to improve, restore and protect hearing and silence tinnitus.We support research programmes,PhD training and collaboration between scientists. BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards 2008

The BBVA Foundation has established the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards in order to recognize the vital role played by scientific research and artistic creation of excellence in these early years of the 21st century in pushing back the boundaries of knowledge and putting it to work for the benefit of all society. The BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards, to be given annually, take in the following prize categories:
- Basic Sciences(Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics)
- Biomedicine
- Ecology and Conservation Biology
- Information and Communication Technology
BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards will consist of 400,000 a diploma and commemorative art work for each category. The period for submitting entries will open on January 2, 2008 and close at 23.00 hours GMT on June 30, 2008 using the online form provided on the dedicated website:

Call for Research Proposals "Ajinomoto Amino Acid Research Program"
Amino acids serve multiple roles in the biological system. Ajinomoto Co., Inc., Which is the leading company on the production and uses of amino acids worldwide, is interested in supporting innovative research focusing on the biological aspects of amino acids, such as nutritional, physiological and pharmacological functions and properties. Research proposals are invited for the following support categories:
- Exploratory Research Grants. Maximum of U.S. $100,000 in direct costs per year, up to 2 years
- Young Investigator Research Grants. Maximum of U.S. $100,000 in direct costs per year, up to 2 years
Investigators who are within 5 years as independent investigators by the deadline of full applications are eligible for young investigator category.

DRWF Open Funding 2009
The Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation invites the submission of research projects and proposals requiring funding in the field of diabetes. Full parameters for applications may be obtained from the charity or its website. Types of application currently considered suitable with a budget of up to £30,000 would be: Research Projects - clinical or non-clinical, of 1 year's duration (though extensions may be considered) Exchange Fellowships (especially between the UK and the USA).
Applications must be received on or before Friday, 6 June 2008. The charity's Research Advisory Board meets in October.

Keio Medical Science Prize 2008 Call for nominations
 The keio Medical science Prize is awarded to researchers in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the fields of medical or life sciences.For 2008,the Keio Medical Science Prize Selection Committee welcomes medical sciences or life sciences related to the field of medicine
The award ceremony will be held in November, 2008 and the prize consists of a certificate of merit, a medal and a monetary award of 20 million yen(approx:US$180,000)

FEBS/EMBO Women in Science award 2009
The annual FEBS/EMBO women in Science Award is presented to a woman working in life sciences to acknowledge her exceptional achievement and to inspire future generations of women scientists.
