As recently announced by Bersin & Associates, the U.S. corporate learning and development (L&D) expenditures dropped by more than 11 % in 2008, and the cuts are likely to continue in 2009. When Bersin asked their research members which were their biggest concerns for 2009, the top priorities they cited were as follows.
1. Creating a stronger organisational learning culture - 31% 2. Reorganising L&D to improve efficiency - 24% 3. Implementing Learning 2.0 (or collaborative learning) - 21% 4. Understanding the new disciplines in L&D - 19% 5. Succeeding in a downsized economy - 17%
Driven by today's changes in budgets and new technology, 49% of people said they needed to implement a new blended-learning model; 44% plan to implement a new set of career development programs; and 43% plan to reorganise L&D to save money and improve effectiveness.
