The West Highland Way, the Great Glen Way and the Speyside Way are three of the best long
distance trails in the world. All are
point to point walks where, each day, you hike from one accommodation to the next, encountering
the ever-changing, beautiful and beguiling scenery which Scotland is so famous
for. These routes, which measure between 65-100 miles, are guaranteed to leave you with a real sense of satisfaction and achievement once you complete the
trail.
We are often asked 'which is the best trail?' by our clients. The truth is that each trail has its highlights so the best trail is very much a subjective opinion! The
West Highland Way is the most challenging route, followed by the
Great Glen Way, with the
Speyside Way being the most gentle of the three. For some people this is a factor while for others it is the scenery that matters. Many hikers on the Speyside Way also quote the whisky distilleries as being a highlight - and with the Speyside Whisky Festival running next month, May is a great month to hike that route.
We would like to hear your tales of hiking these trails and your opinion as to which trail is the best! You can join the debate on our
Facebook page (click on the 'boxes' tab to access the debates) or you can
email Polly with your stories and photos. We'll publish the results in a blog soon!
