The Highlands of Scotland are blanketed in snow at the moment and we've had great fun winter walking and ski touring  recently. While we expect the snow to last in the mountains until  the end of March, the longer hours of daylight are returning, signaling the change of season that is on its way.

Walking to (and sometimes from!) work in daylight is a sure sign that spring is on its way. Spring and early summer is a great time of year to explore Scotland. The wild flowers are in bloom, the migratory birds are nesting and the air is clear and refreshing.

Walking in the Scottish Highlands is one of life's great experiences and this is the perfect time to plan your holiday. Indeed, some of our trips are already fully booked. We hope that this newsletter will inspire you to dig out your walking boots from the back of the cupboard and visit the Highlands with us this year!

Walking in Glen Affric & The Great Glen

Hiking Glen AffricGlen Affric is often cited as being the most beautiful glen in Scotland. Despite this, and its proximity to Loch Ness, it remains a place which offers peace and tranquillity in abundance. With some of the oldest Caledonian pine forest in Scotland, and some fascinating reforestation projects, it is a wonderful place to visit and explore. The  day spent hiking in Glen Affric is sure to be a highlight of our new holiday for 2009: Wilderness Walking in Glen Affric & the Great Glen.

As well as the mountains and forests of Glen Affric, you will explore the wonderful hills and glens of the Central Highlands. After uplifting walks during the day you will relax in eco-friendly comfort and style at one of our favourite small hotels in the Highlands, reflecting on the day's events over dinner and perhaps sampling a local dram.

This trip is graded 'moderate plus', so is aimed at regular walkers and hikers who are keen to hike to the high tops most days.  However, please note that the trip which runs 25-29 May will follow a different itinerary, enjoying low level walks in each area and has a grade of 'easy', so is suitable for most people to join.

This 5-day break runs 4 times this summer and costs from 625 per person. For dates and further details please click here.
