Good Food Festival

Good Food,

Good Know-How,

Good Fun

Saturday, March 19, UIC Forum

For the last six years, the Good Food Festival at the FamilyFarmed EXPO has been the leading gathering place for people in the Midwest who care about local and sustainable food.

This year, we invite you to join us for the best food-focused workshops at any conference in the Midwest. (The best price, by far, we might add!) You will find amazing speakers talking about topics such as Vertical Farming, Backyard Chickens, Canning and Preserving Food, The Buzz on Bees, Being a Conscious Carnivore, Gardening in Small Spaces, and more! Click here to see the full schedule and be sure not to miss Sally Fallon Morell's workshop!  In addition, our chef demos feature an amazing lineup including Stephanie Izard, Paul Virant, Bill Kim, and more.  An added feature of this year's demos is that they each include two chefs paired with a local food farmer. So fun!

Many people come to the Good Food Festival because they want to experience the jam-packed Exhibit Hall. Once again, we expect over 125 vendors including a great mix of farmers, artisan food producers,  food advocates, and more. We'll also have a Grow Your Own Pavilion and lots of CSA farmers! Check 'em out below and be sure to buy your tickets in advance for the workshops. We expect them to sell out!

Michael O'Gorman

So You Want to be a Farmer?

Friday, March 18, 5:30-7:00 pm

FREE WORKSHOP!

(No Registration Necessary)

Farmer-Veteran Coalition Director and Founder Michael O'Gorman will be speaking March 18 on the "So You Want to Be a Farmer" panel.  O'Gorman has farmed for 40 years and has been Production Manager for several of the West Coast's largest organic vegetable companies, growing $200 million of organic food in recent years.

"I got involved helping young men and women coming back from war start to farm," he said recently in a New York Times feature, "because I see in them the temperament of someone who can get into farming and stick with it...The military is not for the faint of heart, and neither is farming".

O'Gorman is joined by farmer training experts from the Prairie Crossing Business Development Center, Angelic Organics Learning Center, and the Chicago Botanic Garden. Don't miss this free workshop (no registration necessary)! And tell your friends who want to nuture their inner farmer to come. It's right after an amazing day of programming for the trade and right before Localicious, the good food party of the season! Going to be a great night! Registration is required for other programming and Localicious.  Click here for ticket information.
