My new blog is about sharing a few pix and information about spiritual shopping. When I go Shopping for Nirvana, it is about shopping for souvenirs, meeting interesting people, and gathering once-in-a-lifetime experiences. The point I want to impress on you is to keep your eyes open and listen with your heart. You never know what will call out to you and what will stick with you over time.

French Riviera

You can never go back so you've got to go FORWARD! This is what I learned during my birthday week in the South of France a few weeks ago. You see, my family spent summers on the Cote d'Azur (tres chic) in the 80s and it was really our first forray into foreign travel. I think it set the tone for my current world adventures!
As birthdays tend to be a time of reflection, I decided to re-visit places from those early days to see if they were the same (of course they would be) or if I was the same (of course I was not.) As you can see from the photos above, I managed to find my way back to a few of our hot spots and things in Europe do remain the same.
If you haven't been to the French Riviera it is a must-see holiday for your bucket list. I am lucky that my friends live in Monaco so I have gone to visit a few times lately. It is heavenly!
- Favorites like Monte-Carlo, St. Paul de Vence, Nice, and Cannes are worth a visit.
- Lesser known spots: Eze, Villefranche, Mougins, Menton, Antibes, and Valbonne make great day trips. There's always a fabulous Picasso, Matisse, or Cocteau Museum to check out. After all, this is where they lived, worked and loved!
- Take a day trip across the border to Italy for a super special time: Aqua Dolce, Tende, and I had the best pasta ever in the mountain town of Limone.
Cool things to do:
- I always love the Buddha Bar in Monte-Carlo (say hi to the DJ Papa)
- Fresh seafood at the famous La Mere Germaine on the water in Villefranche (this is where Cocteau hung out)
- Have a drink with a spectacular view at La Chevre d'Or in Eze, when you're a little woozy take a walk around the quaint town
- Visit the gardens and home of Baroness Ephrussi de Rothschild Italian Villa in St Jean Cap Ferrat (I like old houses)
- buy handmade glass at La Verrerie de Biot in Biot after a delicious and ultra glam lunch at Les Terraillers (plan a few hours for lunch)
Wherever you go this summer - have an adventure and make memories and pick up business cards and write in your journal because you never know when you will be back and will want to locate those favorites places decades later! |
