Results of the September 14th Board Meeting

Last Friday the WRPA Executive Board approved pricing for our newest membership category, the Agency All-Inclusive Membership.  Stay tuned while we update our web site with pricing details and information about how this is different from our regular Agency membership.  

 

The WRPA Executive Board also approved the 2013 Legislative Platform. Please feel free to utilize this information until we prepare the platform in a more official format for distribution to our legislators.

US Fish & Wildlife Service

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) designed a series of five "Got Clean Water?" posters (24"X20") to communicate program accomplishments. The images depict wildlife, boaters, and shooters enjoying the waters in the outdoors. (Sample poster) The posters are available for order and can be customized. Washington State Trails Conference

Don't miss out - an expected 200 trail enthusiasts, recreation planners and land managers will converge on October 25-28 in Vancouver, Washington for the 2012 Washington State Trails Conference. This year the education and fun value of the conference is sky high while keeping costs near the rock bottom. The Bridge Conference

The Bridge Conference, Oct. 8-9, 2012 is held in the heart of downtown Seattle. Bridge brings together afterschool and youth development professionals, school leaders, funders, researchers, policymakers, trainers/coaches and business leaders from across the country. The Conference focuses on research, cutting-edge resources and strategies relevant to strengthening the services that youth receive both in and out of school. On The Move

A team of employees from the Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department (PaRCS) has been awarded the City of Burien Innovative Stewards Award for their efforts in using social media and the Internet to reach the public. More  

 

WRPA has an opportunity to share office space with the Washington Association of Building Officials (WABO).  WABO is planning to move into Woodview Plaza next month and WRPA is considering an offer to sub-lease an office in their suite. Soon we will pack up our desks and roll down the hallway to suite 205. Actual move-in date still to be determined. Contact Brit Kramer at 360-459-9396 if you have questions.

 

Rachel Smith (formerly Legislative Aide to Rep. Dave Upthegrove) starts today as Doug Levy's (our lobbyist) new assistant. Welcome Rachel - rachel.outcomes@hotmail.com 

 

Nona Snell is the new policy director and legislative liaison for the Recreation & Conservation Office (RCO). She will be filling the void left by retiring Steve McLellan. For the past two years she's been the policy director for the Washington State Treasurer's Office. Prior to that she was the coordinator for the House Capital Budget Committee, where she oversaw RCO's capital budget. Her first day in the Office will be October 15th. In her free time, Nona runs marathons and is the Director of the Capital City Marathon that takes place in Olympia every May. 

NRPA Congress
