The WRPA E-news is distributed twice a month to our total membership. Its our tool for providing timely news and information you need regarding current events, grants, training, and great ideas to add value to your work day.

Please keep family, staff and community in your thoughts and prayers for the two WRPA members and parks and recreation heroes who passed away this week

Florence Wager

Vancouver, WA

Vicki Vanneman, VCPRD Rec Services Mgr, was blessed to have been in the company of Florence when she passed. Florence has twice received the WRPA Citation of Merit- Citizen award for her contributions in advancing parks and recreation in SW Washington.  More  Florence was recently profiled in the WSU Magazine.

Doug Strong

Richland WA

Kevin Johnson shared this on the WRPA Faceboook page:  We lost one of our own today. "I found out from a close family member that Doug Strong past away this morning. One of the great Recreation Professionals who shaped me. Doug was one of my favorite undergraduate teachers when he taught at WSU. Kind, well spoken and he knew his stuff, but above all else he cared for his students, as he later did the many staff that worked for or with him. Professionally we were close and as a young professor at WSU, Doug funded a grant I wrote while he was coordinating the State of Washington's Boating Safety Education programs. I am sadden, as I am sure many of you who knew or worked with Doug will be as well."
