AWC Tax and User Fee Survey
This survey is conducted every two years. Survey results provide an important resource for jurisdictions in comparing rate, tax and fee information. AWC staff also use the information to aid our legislative and member services efforts, and state agency staff use it for various reports and website information. Certified Playground Safety Instructor August 15-17, 2012 - Bellevue WA
This course is the most comprehensive training program on playground hazard identification and risk management methods offered anywhere. Advanced reading and fifteen hours of training from nationally known playground safety experts will prepare participants to "sit" for the Certified Playground Safety Inspector Examination offered at the culmination of the certification course. Gov. Chris Gregoire announced the winners of her 2012 Smart Communities Awards. Now in its 7th year, the program recognizes achievements by local leaders to promote "smart growth" planning and projects that contribute to our quality of life in Washington state. More

Special Grants Program
2012 Supplemental Capital Budget
"Hot off the press" information about this $12M grant program split into $6m economic development and $6M community revitalization. The criteria on the community revitalization side include a project's ability to make communities more ped-bike friendly and to enhance in-city recreation. WRPA worked on this in conjunction with the "Jobs Package" enacted by the Legislature. The application cycle is likely to start end of July with CERB offering a webinar early August. More

Transportation Bill Update
Multi-year Reauthorization of our Nation's Surface Transportation Program
NRPA continues to meet with House and Senate Conferees on a weekly basis to discuss critically important issues, including: continued federal support for biking and walking as well as the LWCF provisions included in the Senate passed transportation bill now in conference. Veterans Day Tennis Play Day
NRPA-USTA Tennis in the Parks Initiative
The NRPA-USTA Tennis in the Parks Partnership along with the USTA Military Outreach team encourages Parks and Recreation Departments across the country to expand tennis participation in public parks and thank the Veteran and Military Families in local communities by hosting a Veterans Day Play Day. Be a part of this national initiative and don't forget to register your Play Day scheduled on or around Veterans Day - November 11! More
