Summit: Parks & Recreation Futurerick steves Funding
 
Today - January 24, 2012, Join us for a "Global Perspective" on public spaces by our opening keynote, Rick Steves.  Concurrent breakout sessions on funding strategies for metropolitan park districts and cities and counties feature panelists from around the state.  More   After hours social at The Mark, 4-7:00pm sponsored by Northwest Playground Equipment and MIG.

 

WRPA Legislative Day - January 25, 2012
No registration required.  Join us on Wednesday at 8:30am at the Phoenix Inn for a legislative update and briefing and talking points by our lobbyist, Doug Levy.  We will spend the day on the hill sharing the park and recreation platform and attend special group meetings with key legislators.

Legislative Report - Week 2:  

"Snowmageddon" hit the State Capitol with a vengeance during Week 2 of the Session.  And so did a barrage of ice, stormy winds, and blown trees that downed transmission lines and triggered power outages.
As it did throughout Western Washington, the weather took center stage in Olympia last week, making it a rather truncated week on the legislative front.  Several early-morning hearings were cancelled, and lawmakers shuttered the Capitol altogether about noon Friday when a power outage darkened House and Senate office buildings.   More

Kevin Finn, Bellevue Parks & Recreation, has been announced as the recipient of the scholarship for the Pacific Northwest Resource Management School.  Congratulations!


Johnie Tucker, Vancouver-Clark Parks & Recreation was recently recognized for his work as a partner in the Washington Nutrition and Physical Activity Plan.  Johnie Tucker has worked for 16 years with Vancouver Parks & Recreation. He runs teen programs and develops special activities for families and out-of-school programs for younger children. His work is infused with a strong commitment to working with the community and with partners to match his resources and create the best possible experience for his intended audience.  More
