How to Choose?

asian professinal woman headshotAs you consider heritage providers, there are many choices.  Here is useful information about Lotus as you compare. Click 7 Reasons to learn about the many services and features Lotus Travel offers.

China Visitors: Check your Cultural IQ

Gift giving in any culture is important and can be tricky at times.  It's best to devote a bit of research if you're not sure of a gift's symbolism or appropriateness.  A common gift to a man in North America could be a beautiful pocket knife, such as a Swiss Army knife.  If you plan to give this type of gift to a man in China the sharp object will symbolize the cutting of a friendship.

Vietnam Visitors: Check your Cultural IQ
Do you want to appropriately thank your male tour guide while visiting Vietnam?  A t-shirt is a nice gesture; one with a spider on it has positive connotations, indicating wishes for wealth. Do not give one that has a cow or an owl on it.  The cow indicates stupidity and the owl implies death.  A tip of $3-5 per day if you are pleased with the service is always in good taste.

                                    November  2010

lea looking out windowNovember is always a favorite month for the team at Lotus Travel. It is National Adoption Month and is also a time when we pause to reflect on the past year and look forward as we announce new tours for  Spring and Summer 2011. We have some great new offerings this year, including a volunteer work tour in partnership with Habitat for Humanity in the Sichuan province. We recall the many homes that were devastated during the 2008 earthquake.

Also in this issue we are choosing to highlight what Lotus Travel does that is different than most homeland tour providers. In the past couple of months, we have received more inquiries regarding on this topic than ever before. We are proud of our standing as a professional travel agency, as Louie shares in his interview.

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches we recall many thing for which we are thankful.  Life, good health and family top our list. In business we are having fun with our 15th anniversary celebration year with a drawing for families who book a tour before year end to win an iPad.  We wish you the best during this Thanksgiving season and hope to see you in Asia sometime soon!

Best regards,

     A City with two Names

Click Saigon to read more about this city that has been called the "Paris of Southeast Asia".  The multiple personalities that are part of this city have created a distinct cultural blend and charm to the city that is so quickly growing and modernizing.
