Lotus Travel
15th Anniversary
|
It is with great pleasure that I reflect back on this day 15 years ago. I remember it well, opening my first business in a small 200 square foot cottage in Tacoma, Washington. I was confident I would do well for my clients since I had more than 10 years of experience as a trusted guide for American and European clients traveling throughout Asia.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity in America to pursue the "American Dream" and build a business by providing strong customer service to meet the needs of the adoption community. The 15 years of consistent work and support of adoptive families is what everyone in the adoption community knows as Lotus Travel. I am pleased many families have trusted us as their travel advisor for China and Southeast Asia.
Currently I and my wife are traveling in Vietnam, having just left Cambodia. In a week I return to China and will be traveling there to assist a family in a search for their daughter's birth parents. I am passionate about this work and enjoy working with families; I am thankful every day to do what I do and have been able to help families with travel needs for the past 15 years. As I always tell my staff, we are very fortunate to work for a group of very generous, loving and kind people.
Now as many families plan return trips to Asia and connect their child to their motherland culture, we are on the front line to provide travel services and share knowledge and experience. I have had many privileges during the years of serving adoptive families by traveling with them. One of the most memorable trips I have ever had was when I travelled with a family on their heritage trip. During their orphanage visit they received and read a note that had been left with the child. When we were able to locate the actual finding site through working with many locals, I was overcome with emotion. I appreciate adoptive families and their children in so many ways.
On this day, I count it an honor to help families fulfill their dream by uniting families with their child, and helping children connect to their heritage. I so appreciate both the Asian and American culture and feel like my work is a bridge that connects the two.
Sincerely,
Louie Yi
