Wbug A rising tide of development has lifted the profile of many Northern Kentucky communities. We see the evidence in the intriguing architecture that has blossomed all along the riverfront, especially near the Roebling Bridge. Examples include the The Ascent, Domaine de la Rive, and Riverside Terrace. Each offer lovely river & city views. A Riverside Terrace residence is just one of four Covington homes we have for sale.
Wbug The origins of this optimistic community began when the early settler, Thomas Kennedy, sold 150 acres of land adjacent to the Licking River to Thomas Carneal and brothers John & Richard Gano. These men charted the town and named it for General Leonard Covington of Maryland, hero of the War of 1812. Thomas Carneal's original home still stands at 405 East Second Street. It is Covington's oldest surviving house!
Wbug As these men laid out the city, they intentionally aligned the North South streets with streets across the river in Cincinnati, symbolically linking the two cities. The first five streets from the Licking River were named for the first five Governors of Kentucky; Shelby, Garrard, Greenup, Scott, & Madison.
Wbug The population grew very slowly until a rising level of German immigrants flowed into the region in the mid 1800’s. Many settled in the area of Main and 6th Street, now referred to as MainStrasse Village in recognition of this historic immigration.

Wbug PARKS: Covington has one park that rises above all Northern Kentucky parks- Devou Park. This is 704 acres of beauty with picture perfect views of the Cincinnati skyline, an 18 hole golf course, fishing lake, 3 large picnic shelters, band shell, the Behringer-Crawford Museum, and Drees Pavilion, a fantastic venue for large party events. --- In addition, Covington is planning the Licking River Greenway & Trails. This trail will hug the Licking River from I-275 to the Ohio River, where it will link up with Ohio River walkways.
Click here to view the complete master plan for the Licking River Greenway.

Wbug SIGHTS: Covington is home to the world renowned Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. Visitors are drawn to view the light streaming into the church through the amazing stained glass Rose Windows, one of which is the largest in the world– measuring 67 feet tall by 24 feet wide. The exterior was inspired by Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and the interior was modeled after the ethereal & sublime Basilica of St. Denis. The interior also features murals done by Frank Duveneck, a renowned artist and Covington native.
Wbug NOTABLE: It was Covington native Daniel Carter Beard who founded the Sons of Daniel Boone which became the Boy Scouts of America. He also illustrated many books for Mark Twain and helped organize the Camp Fire Girls club. A life size sculpture of Daniel Beard is located on East Third Street, next to a home we have for sale.
Wbug ENTERTAINMENT: Wonderful music venues have been created, such as the magnificent Carnegie Visual Arts & Performing Arts Center and the Madison Theater; now attracting nationally known performers. Covington's progress continues to surge with projects such as the Public Market, Public Square, (between Fourth and Fifth streets). The future appears very bright for this historic community.Wbug -RSIR

Round Rock, Texas (20 miles north of Austin)
Austin Texas has been in the news lately with stronger than average job growth. Although, considering the prolonged triple digit heat and wilting humidity this area has experienced of late, we're not sure that a even higher paying opportunity could turn us 'Buckeyes' into 'Longhorns'.

If you are pursuing a career opportunity in Austin, or simply looking to retire to a decidedly lovely, fast-growing part of the nation, consider the home at left. A refreshing watering hole creates an oasis of serenity. Price: $575,000.
For additional information, click on the image at left - or call our office, we're always glad to help! 513.321.6000.
