Providing Nurturing Care for Orphaned Children

LWB's Healing Homes Program

 Volume 8, Issue 7July 2012

July's newsletter features LWB's Healing Homes Program. LWB's Healing Homes Program helps orphaned children with serious medical issues needing specialized care. These children are extremely vulnerable, due to being born with medical needs that often cannot be met in an institutional setting. LWB's healing homes are staffed with specially trained nannies who devote their time to the careful nurturing of these children. Click the link below to download the complete newsletter in convenient .pdf format. You'll find the stories in this email plus these features and stories:

  • Celebrating Life, Hope and Love (Feature Article by LWB's Julie Flynn-Coleman)
  • Looking to the Future, Hungry Babies Need the Most Love, "Work" from Home and more!
  • New LWB Partnerships and Fantastic June-July Fundraisers!
  • Kudos (Stories from our wonderful donors, incl. China Sprout and Alternative Gifts International)
  • Welcome Home! (Eight newly adopted children!)

Impacting Change
Love Never Gives Up

"I love that we continually TRY to impact change - as so many times it just takes one person to ask "how can we improve this for the kids?" to start something wonderful."

Celebrating Life, Hope and Love

by Julie Flynn-Coleman, Healing Homes Director

Recently a mom who adopted a child with a severe heart condition, who had been helped by LWB, wrote the following:

"Love never gives up. Love keeps trying, keeps pushing, keeps fighting."

I will be honest and say there are many moments in this job that a lot of our volunteers feel like giving up... because so many of the babies we try to help are extremely ill and fragile. It can be overwhelming to know that when we take a baby into our full time care in one of our healing homes, we are making a solemn promise to that child to do everything in our power to make them well. It is a heavy burden at times, as we must also deal with the realities of raising the funds to buy formula, pay nanny salaries, and provide medical care.

What beautiful words to remember: "Love never gives up." And that is the reason we push forward in hope, because we truly love the children who come into our hands and we never want to give up on their precious lives.

EVERY tiny progress they make is noted. EVERY ounce gained is celebrated. For to us all - supporters, staff and volunteers - we realize that EVERY child counts.

In this newsletter, we celebrate those who have thrived and found healing, and we ask for your help for those still in need. PLEASE consider giving to LWB's healing homes program with a one-time gift or by sponsoring a child monthly. Because every life saved is priceless.
