8th Annual "Born In My Heart" Art Auctio n Coming Up
Event runs April 14-19, 2011
It's that time again - the Love Without Boundaries 8th Annual "Born in My Heart" Art Auction will be live on eBay April 14-19, 2011! This year's auction promises to be one of the best ever. Donated items are still coming in, bu t the items received so far are exquisite and include a white Dehua porcelain fan made in Fujian Province and a lovely handmade quilt.
"We appreciate all of our donors and welcome donations as usual," says Auction Coordinator Debbie Gentile, adding that "anything that is not listed for the art auction will be included in our summer auction." According to Kate Finco, Medical Director, "During the summer months, we have a difficult timeraising funds necessary to provide medical care for our most fragile children. In addition to the summer auction, we will continue to offer smaller auctions throughout the year to raise funds for special surgery trips and children in need of immediate medical care."
Last year's auction raised over $24,500 to provide much needed surgeries and medical treatment for 13 amazing children. We wouldn't have been able to do this without the help of our wonderful donors and volunteers! Your donations help the most vulnerable of children receive life-saving
care and often the opportunity to receive families of their own through adoption.
Proceeds from this year's auction will be used to help children like:
Samuel from Guiyang: a little boy who is only 18 months old and needs surgery for abdominal adhesions from a colostomy. Samuel is so sweet and full of life but the adhesions are causing him lots of pain. We want to send him for his surgery as soon as possible so he can concentrate on growing!
Ruth from Fuyang: a sweet, nine month old who was born with bilateral club feet. We are sending her to a facility that uses the Ponseti method of progressive casts to correct the position of her feet. It will take about nine months for her casting and bracing to be completed and the sooner she starts the easier the whole process will be for her.
Diana from Pingdingshan and Jeffrey
from Zhuzhou: these two beautiful children were born with bladder exstrophy which means there is an opening in their abdominal wall and their bladder is exposed. Surgical repair of bladder exstrophy is very specialized and will require travel to Hong Kong. Every day that goes by for these two children is another day risking infection and discomfort.
Finally, we would like to introduce you to a new little girl from Guizhou Province. This little one's lips are b lue because of a heart defect. We are hoping to move her directly to a hospital in Shanghai for an immediate evaluation. Funds from this year's Art Auction will be used to help cover the costs of travel to Shanghai and, we are hoping a heart surgery for her as well.
"Your donation to our auction is truly a gift that forever alters lives. Please consider being a part of a child's wondrous story of healing," Debbie adds. If you have a fine art or handcrafted item you would like to donate, please e-mail us at auction@lwbmail.com. The deadline for donations is April 1st.
