 | | Julia Andrews, Editor |
Greetings!
It's funny how, just as it was when we were hunting and gathering to make a living, fall is such a busy time. As families, we juggle new school schedules, and as professionals everyone comes back from summer vacations refreshed and ready to go.
The late summer/early fall has been a flurry of activity at the Coaching Center as well. In fact, there are so many new members here, that we're dedicating this issue to getting to know them a little better. In addition to the new members introduced in our last issue (Deb Allen, Porter Knight, Catherine Matosky, and Michele Asch), we're pleased to welcome Debby Bergh, Amy Magyar, Victoria Gonin, Jeff Teitelbaum, and Barbara Lemmel to the fold.
I hope you enjoy getting to know some of our new members. And as always, let us know what you think!

Vital Education Coaching in Education Kindergarten Inspires!
 | | Deb Chisholm, Director of Vital Education |
Many of us read Robert Fulghum's book, All I Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, with smiles and fond memories. Indeed, those were days when our learning was centered in play, and the open atmosphere of creating and sharing, learning and growing, was fun and full of new experiences! A thought leader in education at MIT, Mitch Resnick, is exploring the possibility that the best way to learn, particularly in the age of technology, is much like the kindergarten classroom. Meet Barb Lemmel Bowen Family Systems Expert joins Vital Business
Barb uses Bowen Systems Theory to help teams to better understand where their communication is breaking down, and how to understand each other more readily.
"I love to teach and coach leaders about family systems theory because it offers such an empowering and invigorating perspective on human dynamics. Again and again, I've experienced leaders move from being frustrated at what they can't do - change other people - to becoming excited about what they can do - shift their own approach to a situation so that others choose to come along."

Vital Business Coaching Inspiration
 | | Lea Belair, Director of Vital Business |
I'm just back from the International Coach Federation (ICF) annual conference in Las Vegas, and although they say, "Whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas", I'm taking this opportunity to share a few gold nuggets from the conference with you. What is the ICF? As you may know, the Coaching Center of Vermont is aligned with both professional coach credentialing organizations in the industry, the ICF and the IAC (International Association of Coaching). These organizations stand for the highest professionalism in coaching both ethically and educationally. This means when you hire a coach from the Coaching Center of Vermont, you are assured that your coach has been through a rigorous training program and subscribes to a professional code of ethics. At the conference I learned that, according to the latest research, 75% of companies that engage coaches expect them to be credentialed and that ICF coach members now span 109 countries! Here are some of the gold nuggets I picked up from the keynote speakers.
