Judge B. Glen Whitley Addresses Chamber at Inaugural "State of the County" Luncheon
Chamber President Wes Jurey welcomes Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley

Judge Whitley, who presides over the Tarrant County Commissioners Court, delivered a positive message about the "collaboration" that exists throughout the county. Speaking at the Chamber's first "State of the County" address last Thursday, he proudly stated "the county has never been in the red and consistently looks for ways to solve problems, not fight." Jokingly, he suggested the county consider a new emblem - an orange construction cone - due to the significant amount of new projects; even referencing the new UT Arlington College Park Center. He acknowledged there was work to be done - "improvements to highway 360 and 287 and other areas." He encouraged attendees to visit www.tarrantcares.org to see how the county is better serving the community.

Small Business of the Year Nomination Deadline Approaching

Every year, the Arlington Chamber of Commerce recognizes two small businesses in the community (one for-profit, one non-profit) for their business achievements, innovativeness, response to adversity and contributions to aid community-oriented projects. The Arlington Chamber utilizes the Small Business Administration's widely used size standards to define "Small Business"-500 maximum employees for most manufacturing and mining industries and $7.0 million maximum in average annual receipts for most non-manufacturing industries. Click here to download the nomination form. Hurry, nomination forms must be submitted by March 2.
