Arlington's 2012 Small Business of the Year Award Might Be a Reality for Your Company!

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce annually recognizes two small businesses in the community (one for-profit, one non-profit) for their business achievements, innovativeness, response to adversity and contributions to aid community-oriented projects. The Arlington Chamber utilizes the Small Business Administration's widely used size standards to define "Small Business"-500 maximum employees for most manufacturing and mining industries and $7.0 million maximum in average annual receipts for most non-manufacturing industries. The 2012 awards are open to nominations. Click here to download the nomination form.

NTTA Further Studies the Feasibility of TH-360 Development South

At the moment, there is no clear path to building the rest of Texas Highway 360 on the eastern edge of Arlington. It's nevertheless a priority for the Arlington Chamber of Commerce to see the freeway portion of the road - service roads already exist - get completed from where it stops at Green Oaks Boulevard all the way south to Ellis County.

A fully built 360 means better, faster access for shipping for businesses on the city's east side, as well as making land along the roadway more viable for development. The North Texas Tollway Authority is spending $5.3 million on preliminary planning, but there is no clear indication of which agency will ultimately construct the $600 million extension, or when that project might happen. NTTA officials briefed the Chamber's Center for Public Policy Advisory Council about two weeks ago. The NTTA presentation can be found here.
