335-unit Complex to Boost Downtown Arlington Development

Last week, the Arlington City Council approved an apartment development on the southeast side of the UT Arlington campus that could give a boost to downtown development efforts. The five-story, 335-unit upscale complex is being touted as a home for faculty and staff.

A critical mass of people living in or near downtown has always been seen as one necessary catalyst to driving the demand for services that would spur redevelopment of existing downtown lots. While any apartment development in Arlington creates some legitimate concerns, greater density in the area of downtown has generally been considered a positive move towards reshaping the downtown and near-university areas.

Final approval of the project should come when the City Council considers it on second reading on January 17. Click here to view renderings.(PDF, 28.2MB)

Your Business Can be Honored as The Chamber's Small Business of the Year

Every year, the Arlington Chamber of Commerce recognizes two small businesses in the community (one for-profit, one non-profit) for their business achievements, innovativeness, response to adversity and contributions to aid community-oriented projects. The Arlington Chamber utilizes the Small Business Administration's widely used size standards to define "Small Business"-500 maximum employees for most manufacturing and mining industries and $7.0 million maximum in average annual receipts for most non-manufacturing industries.
