The Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President Brand Management/ President of Charities, Charlotte Jones Anderson will give the keynote address at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner (Click here for bio). Chamber to Recognize Tillie Burgin with the Star Award at Annual Dinner

Tillie Burgin Tillie Burgin will be the recipient of the Star Award at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner September 29. Ms. Burgin is the founder and Executive Director of Mission Arlington following a distinguished career in the Arlington ISD. To read more about Ms. Burgin, please click on her bio. National Association of Seed & Venture Funds Convention in Arlington

Operation Graduation Needs Your Support

AISDThe AISD will host its 2nd annual Operation Graduation Walk this fall, a collaborative effort with the goal of increasing the graduation rate of Arlington students. Volunteers are needed for the event on Saturday, September 10 from 8 am to noon. 

Participants will walk or drive to the homes of students who were enrolled in spring 2010, but did not return to complete their diploma. To volunteer, please fill out the  registration form here. The deadline to register is this Friday, August 26.

UTA President Speaks on KERA Aug. 26

UT ArlingtonUT Arlington President James D. Spaniolo discusses current challenges facing both students and administrators in higher education on the next "CEO" scheduled to air Aug. 26 on KERA/Channel 13, KERA.org reported.  The college is forced to look for alternative sources of revenue to educate a record number of students as state funding shrinks.  Spaniolo also details plans for a 22-acre multi-use development currently under construction and updates UTA's progress toward becoming a nationally recognized research university.

Arlington's Christkindl "German Holiday Market" Debuts Dec. 8-11

A new holiday tradition debuts in Arlington Dec. 8-11--Christkindl German Market. The authentic, festive holiday marketplace will be a true private/public partnership anticipated to grow into the state's largest German Christmas Market. Meet some of the world's most famous children's book authors and illustrators. Join them each month at The Diamond Club at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington for a free event. Families will enjoy hearing an author or illustrator reach out to children, inspiring them to read and express themselves creatively in their writing and artwork. Books will be available for purchase and families will have the opportunity to meet the author or illustrator and have their book signed.  Click here to learn more about the authors

Arlington Receives $2.7 Million from the Major Events Trust Fund

Last week the state's Major Events Trust Fund notified the City of Arlington that it will reimburse the city for investments and costs related to the Super Bowl to the tune of $2.7 million.

The City of Arlington made substantial infrastructure improvements to accommodate the influx of media and football fans, which in turn, enhances the city long after the football masses have gone home.
