Message From the Principal

 | (Top) Teddy M. (Left to Right) Connor P, Luke W., Andrei W., Gavin L. |
Families are hastening their preparations for Christmas and putting up the decorations and lights around their homes. This week, as we light the second candle on the Advent wreath, we are reminded to brighten up our spiritual lives as Jesus' birthday draws nearer. If you have some time, join us at 8:30 these mornings as the children pray around the Advent wreath. As you listen to their voices, you will hear the real message of Advent and the promise the season brings. You will have more opportunities next week when the children present their Advent programs. Our music teachers, the preschool teachers, Mrs. Grandorf, many volunteer parents, and the students have been practicing hard to bring us into the spirit of Christmas. The students are also demonstrating Jesus' message of good will and kindness through their many stewardship projects. Thank you for supporting them.
The first trimester report cards and ITBS results are being sent home today. I urge you to take the time with your students to review their progress. Look first at their Christian Social Values and work and study habits - the life skills that frequently determine success. These areas of the report card are often overlooked in the rush to check grades. Talk with your children, celebrate their achievements and discuss strategies for continued growth. It is hard to believe that the second trimester has started. Be sure to look for information below on Elementary Science Club!
Third grade students from Bear Scouts Troop 121 participated in raising the American flag before classes began on Wednesday morning. The ceremony marked the second of four components involving Acheivement 3: What Makes America Special. In working toward their Bear Scout badge, Teddy M., Connor P., Luke W., Gavin L., and Andrei W. learned how to properly raise a flag in an outdoor ceremony. Mrs. Castillo, Mrs. Kelly, Sr. Pablo, and parents also took part in ceremony honoring our flag.
Beannacht - God Bless,
Bernadette O'Leary
