Blessed are those who fear the Lord.

from Psalm 128

Message From the Principal

Dr. and Mrs. Jon Evavold, daughters Mrs. Jessica Kelley (with son Grant) and Mrs. Jonna SkokanDr. and Mrs. Jon Evavold, and daughters

Mrs. Jessica Kelley (with son, Grant Kelley) and Mrs. Jonna Skokan

Today, we are assembling to honor our Veterans.  Dr. Jon Evavold, Mrs. Skokan's father, Vietnam veteran having served as Captain in the Army, and former school principal will address us and share his experiences and knowledge about the United States military.  We will thank and pray for all veterans and their families.  Bless them for their spirit of service and for sharing their many gifts with us.    Many Gifts; One Spirit.

Our sixth graders are encouraging all of us to bring in our canned and dried foods for St. Vincent de Paul.  The 'wall of food' is growing along the corridor outside my office!  Tech Club is coming to a close and Journalism Club has just started.  It is a delight to hear such a buzz as early morning mathematicians arrive and soon that sound will grow as our younger choir raise their voices in Cantionis.   The teachers are delving deep into the math curriculum and reworking our report cards to reflect the standards.  Many Gifts; One Spirit.

Congratulations to all the soccer teams and cross country runners.  St. John students and coaches have brought home many medals and trophies this year!   (See the CYO report for details).  Congratulations to all team members and coaches for your hard work, dedication and sportsmanship!    Many Gifts; One Spirit.

Beannacht - God Bless,

Bernadette O'Leary

New Procedure - Signing Out Your Student During School Hours

In an effort to continually improve security for our students a new step to our existing procedure has been added.  Parents picking students up during school hours are required to sign their student out in the school office.  In addition to signing out, parents collecting students directly from the classroom, playground, lunchroom, etc., will now receive a pass from office personnel to be given to the teacher or other adult staff on duty, indicating that office personnel are aware of and have approved the release of the student.

Cantionis Choir Cantionis Bird

Come sing with us!  Cantionis Choir is a no cost extracurricular activity for students in grades three through six, directed by Mrs. Becky Kelly, Music teacher.   Practices are Mondays and Thursdays at 7:40am in Egan Mezzanine.  We perform at the 5:00pm liturgy the first Saturday of each month, school assemblies, and parish and community events.  This is an opportunity for your child to develop his or her interest in music and further expand musical skills.  Through the unique experience of an ensemble, students will work on sight reading, solfege, proper singing technique, and general musicality.  There will also be the opportunity for solo and instrumental performance.  This is a rewarding and positive experience.  Mrs. Kelly is hoping to see many of you there! Questions?  Contact Mrs. Kelly.
