NewsViews from St. John School

Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.

from Psalm 24

Message From the Principal

   All Saints

I can assure you that there is excellent teaching and learning happening at St. John School.  Each day, I endeavor to spend time in the classrooms, observing, learning about the students, teachers and the curriculum.  Today, I also enjoyed jumping rope with the students at recess.   I love my job!

Next week, we celebrate Halloween, the Day of the Dead and All Saints.  On Monday, we all experience our reward for the hard work you parents undertook to sell all the magazines!  The magician will be here.  Later on, all the Halloween fun begins!   Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead and the primary Halloween Carnival will begin in the early afternoon.  Check with your child for the schedule and join in the fun!

You are also welcome on Tuesday, November 1st , when the student body and faculty will attend Mass to celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints, which commemorates all the saints, known and unknown.

It is hard to believe that November is just days away.  The sun is shining; the sky is bright blue.  However, there is definitely a chill in the air.  Remind the students to wear their coats.  We have also been experiencing the impact of a virus that is causing sore throats, runny noses and coughing.   We ask you to partner with us to encourage your children to wash their hands and cover their coughs!  Thank you.

See you tonight at the talk about the Mass.

Beannacht - God Bless,

Bernadette O'Leary

Volunteer News

Please welcome Shane Pierard and Colleen Mounsey to the Volunteer Coordination team!  Shane has three children, two at the school in second grade and Kindergarten, and one at home.  Shane will be the volunteer coordinator for over forty activities available in the Parish.   Colleen has a third grader at St. John and will be the "Events" Volunteer Coordinator (i.e. Open House, Grandparents Day, Endowment Dinner, etc.).   I know the whole parent body joins me in thanking them for stepping up to make the volunteer program a success!

One more volunteer is needed to fill the position of Lead Volunteer Coordinator.  This person will manage the "day to day" school activities in the volunteer catalog and act as the lead in bi-annual volunteer recruitment, supported by Shane and Colleen.  The Lead Volunteer Coordinator position is a great way to know what's going on a St. John school.  If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at alleyburke@yahoo.comJennifer Burke
