Thank you for your patience as we dealt with the leaking pipes and lack of water. We were fortunate that our plumbers and excavators realized the extent of the emergency and were willing to drop other jobs and concentrate on the school. We were blessed that we had the conferences when the leak was discovered. However, we have discovered that there are many more eighty-nine year old pipes that are in need of repair. The maintenance plan for summer 2012 could be very interesting!
Our two 'no snow, no water' days have prompted us to look to our website as a vehicle to deliver lessons on such days. The teachers are thinking about how they can post lesson directions and guides on their web pages. Parents have access to Mathletics, Accelerated Reader and Type to Learn at home. As we plan, let us also pray that the pipes will hold and the winter will be kind.
The mornings are darker and the roadwork is increasing. This weekend, 80th will be closed. Continue to look for alternate ways to come to school and be prepared to park a few blocks away. Start a walking bus in your neighborhood. Be sure to walk in groups; have the children walk with buddies and remind them not to talk with strangers.
Our theme this year, Many Gifts, One Spirit, permeates the entire community. Parents, volunteers, coaches, Parent Association members, School Commission members, classmates, friends, Pumpkin Runners, Bump-It-Up volleyball players, soccer players, altar servers, rummage sale providers, donors, friends and so many more all work and play together to create a beautiful spirit of community, camaraderie and care for one and other. I feel very blessed to be a member. Join us for the Living Rosary at 2:00pm tomorrow.
Beannacht - God Bless,
Bernadette O'Leary

October is the Month of the Rosary
During the month of October students daily recite the rosary as a class. Once per week the building quiets and students recite the rosary as a school, led by a student over our public address system. It is a very special few minutes as 534 students, their teachers and staff focus together on the prayers and mysteries of the rosary.
Join us in the Church tomorrow, Friday, October 21, at 2pm as our Middle School students lead us in the Living Rosary. |

Cantionis Choir
Rehearsals Begin Thursday, November 3!
Come sing with us! Cantionis Choir is a no cost, extracurricular activity for students in grades three through six, directed by Mrs. Becky Kelly, Music teacher. Practices are Mondays and Thursdays beginning November 3, at 7:40am in Egan Mezzanine. We perform at the 5:00pm liturgy the first Saturday of each month, school assemblies, and parish and community events. This is an opportunity for your child to develop his or her interest in music and further expand musical skills. Through the unique experience of an ensemble, students will work on sight reading, solfege, proper singing technique, and general musicality. There will also be the opportunity for solo and instrumental performance. This is a rewarding and positive experience. Mrs. Kelly is hoping to see many of you there!
